The account is not a member of the sysadmin server role

Symptoms

When attempting to scan a remote SQL Instance you receive the following error.

The current login account 'Account Name' is not a member of the sysadmin server role.

Cause

By default the SQL Instance agent requires that the service account or account specified in the custom credentials is a member of the sysadmin server role. 

This ensures that all databases are visible and included in the scan. 

Resolution

• Add the service account or account specified in the customer credentials to the sysadmin server role.

• Modify the tolerance settings and set the Sysadmin Role Membership setting to False.
